It is not true that “fascists in Ukrainian skin” carried out attacks on Russian strategic bombers. This was done by Ukraine with its security services under the supervision of President Volodymyr Zelensky. The reason is that Russia uses strategic bombers to fire long-range missiles into Ukraine

We analyze a Facebook post that says the following:

Fascists in Ukrainian skin destroyed about 35 strategic bombers deep in Russia. Tough as nails—the EU and the USA, including MK.

It is not true that “fascists in Ukrainian skin” destroyed bombers deep inside Russia. Given that the post dates back to June 2, 2025, it is likely that the reference is to the attack by Ukrainian drones on several air bases deep inside Russia that occurred on Sunday (June 1, 2025) and when strategic bombers in Russia were hit by Ukrainian drones. However, to say that the attacks were carried out by “fascists in Ukrainian skin” is untrue, given that Russia launched an unprovoked military invasion of a sovereign and independent democratic Ukraine, which functions with an elected government. The attack by Russia occurred unprovoked in 2022 and since then Ukraine has maintained its right to self-defense. One of the Kremlin’s narratives to find justification for the military invasion that Russia launched in Ukraine was the so-called “denazification.” This thesis is unfounded and wrong, because in this particular case, the attacks were carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and Vasyl Maliuk, who is the director of the Security Service of Ukraine, is seen in photographs looking at the locations where the drone attacks were carried out on Russian bases. Considering that Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, himself stated on the social network “X” that the operation was planned by Ukraine, it cannot be carried out by “fascists in Ukrainian skin.”

Today, a brilliant operation was carried out. The preparation took over a year and a half. What’s most interesting, is that the “office” of our operation on Russian territory was located directly next to FSB headquarters in one of their regions. In total, 117 drones were used in the operation with a corresponding number of drone operators involved. 34% of the strategic cruise missile carriers stationed at air bases were hit. We will continue this work, Zelensky said.

 

He later noted that Europe, together with America, has better weapons than Russia, as well as better tactical solutions, as demonstrated by Operation Spider’s Web.

Russia must feel what its losses mean. That is what will push it toward diplomacy. And when Russia takes losses in this war, it’s obvious to everyone that Ukraine is the one holding the line – not just for itself, but for all of Europe. Ask your intelligence – what is Russia planning this summer in Belarus? If they’re bold enough to prepare attacks from there, then we need more strength – together. And right now, that means strengthening Ukraine – so we can stop this war and prevent it from spreading. That’s why weapons production matters, Zelensky added.

This further reinforces the context, that the attacks on the bombers are aimed at Ukraine’s self-defense and forcing Russia into a diplomatic act of negotiation. The operation itself is coordinated by the highest security services of Ukraine, where there are no “fascists in Ukrainian skin.” These are people who are not fascists, but are defending their country from an unprovoked invasion that has taken human lives and caused the destruction of Ukraine.

The drone attacks took place in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions. Air defenses repelled the attacks in all but two regions–Murmansk and Irkutsk, the ministry said. As the BBC reported, the attack had been in preparation for 18 months and took place on June 1 when more than 100 Ukrainian drones attacked air bases deep inside Russia, targeting long-range bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The operation is called “Spider’s Web.” The figure given in the post we are reviewing–35 strategic bombers, that were allegedly destroyed in the operation is not accurate. According to what the BBC writes, citing Kyiv, 41 strategic bombers were hit and “at least” 13 destroyed. Moscow has not confirmed the loss of strategic bombers, except for what is seen in the footage–that some planes were damaged. Video footage verified by the BBC shows damaged aircraft at the Olenegorsk military base in Murmansk and the Belaya base in Irkutsk.

So, it is not true that “fascists in Ukrainian skin” carried out attacks on Russian strategic bombers, but that Ukraine did it with its security services under the supervision of President Volodymyr Zelensky. The reason is that Russia uses strategic bombers to fire long-range missiles into Ukraine.

Due to all the above facts, we assess the post we are reviewing as untrue.
