It Is Not True That Minister Petrovska Is Making a List for the Mobilization of Soldiers for Ukraine
Truthmeter asked the Ministry of Defense if it is true that Minister Petrovska is preparing a list for the mobilization of soldiers for Ukraine, as the post claims, and they denied such information. “The claim that the Ministry of Defense or the Minister prepares lists for mobilization is incorrect,” said the Ministry of Defense. The Minister of Defense has stated on several occasions that Macedonia will send military equipment as an aid to Ukraine, but that it will not send soldiers
A Facebook post claims that Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska is making a list to mobilize troops for the war in Ukraine. This is not true.
Slavjanka is already looking through the SEC’s list of turnout for the referendum and underlining candidates for mobilization. Just as for the referendum, now all those public figures who called to vote for “EUROPEAN NORTH MACEDONIA” should be mobilized and sent to the front lines in Ukraine, says the post we are analyzing.
The Minister of Defense has stated on several occasions that Macedonia will send military equipment as an aid to Ukraine, but that it will not send soldiers.
And the NATO Alliance has emphasized several times that NATO will not become a party to the war, that it is a war between Russia and Ukraine, and that NATO will support Ukraine in its intention to defend its territorial integrity.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in May this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos that NATO would not send its troops to Ukraine because it wants to avoid a war with Russia.
NATO’s main responsibility is to protect all its allies and do everything to prevent the escalation of this war. We do not want to cause conflict, but to prevent it and preserve peace, Stoltenberg said.
The American ambassador to NATO, Julien Smith, repeated the same position on October 11.
The Allies are clear, the Secretary General is clear, the view is united that NATO should not become a party to this conflict, this is a conflict between Ukraine and Russia, NATO is a defensive military alliance, and Ukraine has every right to defend its territory, Smith said.
Truthmeter turned to the Ministry of Defense where we asked if it is true that Minister Petrovska is preparing a list for the mobilization of soldiers in Ukraine, as the post claims. They denied such information.
The participation of citizens from North Macedonia in a foreign army is a crime. The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia participates only in NATO and EU missions and exercises. The claim that the Ministry of Defense or the Minister prepares lists for mobilization is incorrect. According to security assessments, the situation in the country is safe and stable. The Ministry of Defense and Minister Petrovska call for refraining from spreading fake news and disinformation, the Ministry of Defense answered.
According to the above facts, we assess the post we are analyzing as not true.
