It is Not True that Representatives from the European Parliament Trampled the Flag of Donetsk People’s Republic

We fact-checked the post published on the social network Facebook claiming that representatives of the European Parliament were trampling the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR – Donbas). At the same time, a video was recorded where people speaking English langauge are trampling the flag, while previously one of them was wiping his shoes with the flag and the rest were joining in.

According to the Yahoo article, the video was published for the first time 7th December 2022 by Serhiy Prytula, Ukrainian political activists, TV presenter and actor. Thruthmeter found the video on Twitter, on Prytula’s profile on the following link.

Along with other representatives of the Ukrainian volunteer movement, Prytula was invited to Congress by the Commission for Security in Europe (Helsinki Commission), reported Yahoo News.
Representatives of Ranzom for Ukraine, Blue-Yellow for Ukraine and the “Come Back Alive” Foundation spoke to US congressmen about their work to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities and support its civil society. After that, according to the text on Yahoo, Kyle Parker, the representative of the Helsinki Commission, decided to demonstrate his attitude towards the Kremlin puppets by using the DNR flag to clean his shoes after which others in the audience joined him.
The Ukrainian group of activists led by Prytula met with representatives of the US Congress and shared their experience regarding the funancing of the Ukrainian Army. Media reported that the American politicians did not participate in what was demonstrated on the video.
When Prytula shared the video on his Twitter profile he wrote:
Good thing people on the Hill, know the drill… Kyle Parker found the proper place for this dirty rag… referring to the flag.
Due to all of the above-mentioned facts, we assess as untrue the news that representatives of the European Parliament were trampling the flag of Donbas.
