EXPLANATION:

As laid down in SDSM’s electoral program “Plan for Life in Macedonia”, this promise was supposed to be fulfilled within the first two years in office, therefore its implementation is in progress.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Mila Carovska recently visited the first persons accommodated in a decent homeless shelter in Vizbegovo, who used to live under the Skopje Fortress. They are 96 persons temporarily accommodated in 15 newly built decent facilities.

Carovska emphasized that last winter they also stepped in and temporarily accommodated a certain number of homeless in one of Ministry’s facilities, but now the new facilities are built with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Foundation Open Society. They now accommodate 96 persons, more than 60 of whom are children.

Macedonia is a social state and equally cares for all citizens to have a decent life. The temporary residence in Vizbegovo accommodates 96 individuals, 66 of whom are children. Being accommodated in these new facilities means getting decent living conditions and a chance for labor market activation, while their children are included in the education. After we start the social reform next year, these persons will have the opportunity to receive dependency and education allowance, said the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mila Carovska.

She also added that these persons will be covered by other measures as well, especially the measures for employment and inclusion of adults and children in education.

At the same event, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev stated that such actions are being carried out and such facilities or other infrastructure is being built in other municipalities throughout Macedonia: Bitola, Delchevo, Kumanovo…

Owing to the aforesaid facts, we assess that the promise given in the electoral program is in progress.
