Covid-19 Passport Will Not Insert Control Over Citizens

According to the expert public, the most important goal of the Covid-19 passport is to increase the number of citizens who will receive the vaccine, which, in turn, will lead to collective immunity. Another important thing that Covid-19 passports allow is to prevent interacting between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated indoors, thus preventing new infections. Contrary to what is claimed in the post that the vaccine passports will be for the control of the population, they actually allow more freedom in travel, attending various events and contribute to as many citizens as possible to be vaccinated; with the main goal of collective immunity with а 90 percent vaccinated population

We are reviewing a Facebook post claiming that the only function of the Covid-19 passports is to control people. It does not specify what kind of control.

If the vaccine protects you from a serious illness, and you can still get Covid-19 and still infect others, then the ONLY point of the Covid-19 passport is to control us, the post reads.

However, the Covid-19 passport has several roles and functions, which do not include control of the population. As more and more people are being vaccinated, governments around the world are relying on these passports as a way to retrieve social life. These passports are certificates that show that someone is immunized against Covid-19, on the basis of which restaurants, sports facilities, shopping malls and other shopping facilities use it to allow entry.

By obtaining a Covid-19 passport some people who could not work during the pandemic can work now. During the pandemic when there were no vaccines, all citizens faced restrictions on their freedoms, which are now slowly disappearing with the existence of a Covid-19 passport and they can regain their basic freedoms.

The vaccination passport also offers great benefits in terms of international travel. Being vaccinated means that you are much less likely to suffer from a serious clinical picture of Covid-19, which when travelling abroad may make you need hospitalization in another country. Paul Hunter, a professor of medicine at the University of East Anglia, says that if a country’s hospitals are already grappling with high levels of Covid-19, “they don’t want people coming out on holiday from Britain, and then going down with Covid and adding to the burden on their health services. [If you are vaccinated,] you are unlikely to get sick with Covid-19 while you are there, either [because] you brought it into the country or [because] you picked it up in the first week of the holiday.”

If someone has recovered from Covid-19, then they receive a certificate of recovery which shows that they are immune to Covid-19 and in principle, such a document gives the citizen greater freedom to travel and socialize.

In addition, with a larger number of vaccinated citizens, collective immunity will be achieved much faster, which will mean that over 80 percent of the citizens have been vaccinated.

It is true what is claimed in the post, that the vaccinated can get infected with Covid-19 and infect others. People who have received two doses of the vaccine can be just as infectious as those who have not been vaccinated. Although they have no symptoms, there is a 38 percent chance they transmit the virus to the unvaccinated in their home. But when everyone in the household is vaccinated, the chance of transmission of the virus is only 25 percent. The unvaccinated cannot rely on those around them. Vaccines do a great job of preventing serious covid disease and death, but they do not guarantee 100 percent protection against infection.

There is also a key difference between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated, which is not highlighted in this post. And that is that people who are vaccinated are far less likely to get Covid-19.

A study published in August found that the virus clearance time in vaccinated is faster than in unvaccinated. The average time for Covid-19 clearance is 5.5 days and in the unvaccinated 7.5 days.
