2. April is promoted as the International Fact-Checking Day from the International Fact-Checking Network, established under the Initiative of the Poynter Institute from S. Petersburg, Florida in cooperation with fact-checking organizations around the world.
“International Fact-Checking Day is not a single event but a rallying cry for more facts – and fact-checking – in politics, journalism, and everyday life”, says the web site dedicated to this day.
And the date is not selected randomly. It’s right after the April Fools Day, the day of jokes and lies in order to emphasize the importance of fact-checking.

Metamorphosis Foundation on Internet and Society, through the media projects such as the Media Fact-Checking Service and the Truthmeter is the only member from Macedonia of the 45 members strong International Fact-Checking Network.
