Anti-vaxxers Abuse Celine Dion’s Health as a Weapon against Vaccination

All official sources indicate that Celine Dion has muscle problems, and none that it is a consequence of the Covid-19 vaccine, as claimed in the post

We are reviewing a Facebook post claiming that singer Celine Dion was allegedly paralyzed after receiving a vaccine against Covid-19.

Dion had to cancel her concert in Las Vegas because she was not feeling well. She has a problem performing on stage due to medical reasons mentioned on her website, i.e. muscle cramps (spasms). However, in the meantime, disinformation has spread on social media that she was seriously harmed after receiving the vaccine against Covid-19 and is unable to perform. But Celine Dion has in no way reported suffering from side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine (it is true that she was vaccinated).

Celine Dion announced on Twitter that she must cancel her performance in Las Vegas due to unpredicted medical reasons.

Dion was vaccinated but did not experience any side effects after the vaccine. On the singer’s page, it is mentioned that the reason why she cannot perform is due to muscle spasms, and not the vaccine. The announcement said:

Celine has been experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing. Her medical team continues to evaluate and treat her. However, the symptoms she is experiencing are prohibiting her from participating in the ongoing rehearsals for the new show.

Even Celine’s sister said that the cancellation of the concert in Las Vegas was due to muscle problems, given the stage where she was supposed to perform.

She told me that the scene was uphill, steep, that it would cause problems with her muscles, legs, feet, – said Dion’s sister.

All performances, i.e. concerts of the singer from 5 November 2021 to 5 February 2022 have been cancelled, but there are still 19 concert performances scheduled in North America for March and April 2022 and there are several scheduled concerts for 2023.

Foreign fact-checkers have already assessed that it is not true that Celine Dion suffers from side effects after vaccination, but that the medical causes are muscle cramps.

Given all this information, we assess the post we are reviewing as untrue.
