It is not true that on Davos meetings future wars, diseases and famine are discussed. The challenges faced by the World and current issues of global nature are discussed on the meetings of the World Economic Forum. The part of the post that identifies Davos participants with the nephews and nieces of Lucifer is a propaganda technique used to smear the founder of WEF, Klaus Schwab, through narratives discrediting and demonizing the event that gathers together the whole civilized and advance-looking world

We fact-checked a post published on the social network Facebook that states the following:

Lucifer’s nephews and nieces got together on Davos.

Soon we will find out where they plan to have a war, and where diseases and famine will occur.

In 1971, for the first time the World Economic Forum held a meeting in the city Davos on the Alps discussing the challenges faced by the World. Participants on the meetings are leaders from business, governments, civil society, religious groups, media, academicians and artists. They all get together in conference rooms to participate on the meetings whose main focus include several topics from climate change to crypto-currencies.

Which topics were on the Agenda for 2023 in Davos?

This year the topic of the meeting was “Cooperation in a Fragmented World; Optimistic Outlook Meeting the Growing Geo-political Tension Expanding from Ukraine to China”. The agenda of Davos consisted of approximately 500 events, with topics from global recession to the latest accomplishments in green technology.

One of the examples of the meeting was the topic that more than a billion people live with some kind of a disability and they were the ones who were mostly affected by climate crises. Their needs are quite frequently excluded from infrastructure design strategies and crisis response situations thereby answering the question “How can climate change be transformed into an inclusion opportunity?”

In addition, global health inequalities were discussed that, unfortunately, are a reality. The difference between life expectancy of people in developed countries and those in underdeveloped countries is 14 years, while marginalized populations within countries face worse health forecasts. To address these health inequalities, WEF and the partners initiated the first global, multi-sectoral health commitment stressing the need for multi-disciplinary approach and action on a global level as to improve health inequalities.

In her address, Olena Zelenska – the wife of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – talked about the ramifications of the Russian military aggression of Ukraine and the possible consequences in terms of inflation, people who had to flee the country etc. Her address called for support for the Ukrainian side.

However, the post fact-checked claims that, apparently, Davos meeting of WEF was also about planning furture wars, which is not true. In Davos, among hundreds of other topics, current and inevitable global context topics were discussed, including the Russian military of Ukraine.

Andriy Yermak from the Office of the President of Ukraine stressed the tragedy of lost human life in the war and why it was impossible to reach a traditional peaceful agreement.

Some of the topics discussed were how to make cyber-attack resilience a priority, how technology could assist trade, 5 ways for business leaders to make an impact in their societies, how can emerging economies invest in their digital future etc. Participants also discussed about the fact that the loss of natural resources was an economic crisis which make innovative solutions necessary immediately.

Leaders from Latin America discussed how to improve global energy transtion and climate change and how their countries were dealing with internal challenges such as inflation, inequalities and sustainability.

In Davos, the Greek Prime-minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about the enery crisis and the Russian gas.

There was also a session discussing how to improve the rights of the LGBT community, women leaders etc.

All these, and many other topics were part of the meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos 2023.

Due to all of the above-noted facts we assess that it is not true that Davos meeting discussed where to have wars, diseases or famine. The topics discussed there are already current and existing issues of global character. The part of the post where the participants are identified as the nephews and nieces of Lucifer is a propaganda technique used for years-long smearing the founder of WEF, Klaus Schwab, through narritives discrediting and demonizing the event that gathers together the whole civilized and advance-looking World.
