A Post on Facebook manipulates with a very sensitive topic, i.e., false bomb reports that target schools and lately also some state institutions and shopping centres, thereby disturbing the citizens to a significant extent.

Do you remember how Oliver Spasovski’s cyber experts for THREE whole months tried to convince us that the bomb reports in schools in Skopje were sent from foreign emails, how difficult it was to locate and track down the perpetrators, and how they were maximally organized!??? Well, today they arrested a 55-year-old woman from Skopje!!! They probably thought that this way of intimidation and instilling fear into people will not de-focus the attention of the citizens from the real problems and crimes that they – SDS and DUI have committed on daily basis. So, they thought of catching the perpetrator!!! – text written in the post.

The post claims that a 55-year-old woman from Skopje was behind the false bomb reports in the schools and that the Ministry of Internal Affairs mislead the public with the claim that the email threats were sent from abroad. What fools the public however, is precisely the claims made in the post that is conveyed in a way to distort the real situation and thereby manipulate the citizens.

What is actually going on?

It is true that on 12th January, the Ministry of the Internal Affairs announced the arrest of a 55-year-old woman from Skopje for false bomb reports. However, the statement of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs does not mention anywhere that the woman sent reports by email and that she was connected with the previous cases of false bomb reports in the schools. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the day before detaining the woman – 11th January 2023 –  she reported by phone that explosive devices were planted in schools in Skopje.

Immediately after the report, measures and activities were undertaken and it was determined that the report was false and A.K. (a person with health problems) was found and detained, stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Therefore, the woman had absolutely nothing to do with the previous false bomb reports.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Oliver Spasovski, so far, on several occasions stated that the reports were sent from foreign email addresses, and that these hybrid threats gain momentum on a global scale.

The messages were sent from abroad, we have serious clues about how the whole process works, and we are working with maximum dedication, with the help of our partners, all in order to stop these monstrous acts that disturb the citizens, Minister Spasovski explained.

He pointed out that since the beginning of his mandate in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all the capacities of the security services were dedicated to the protection of all citizens in all segments, including cyber-security, which are quite apparent in today’s circumstances.

At the beginning of January, Spasovski said that the investigations were conducted in all cases of bomb threats and that evidence has been provided for several cases.

We have evidence for the false bomb reports in Skopje, in Kavadarci, and in Delcevo. We are working and we are on the right track to expose another event in Skopje. All services to the fullest in the part against terrorism, cyber-crime, digital forensics, are exclusively dedicated to work a special headquarters in this segment established within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition, there is a special operational headquarters established in the Government and certain measures are undertaken there. However, they will surely provide information from the Government regarding the situation, said Spasovski during the visit to the mobile unit for Road Traffic Safety in Petrovec.

From here we can conclude that the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested a 55-year-old woman suspected for false bomb reports, but she had nothing to do with the previously sent reports from foreign email addresses, and that they were hybrid threats, pointed Minister Spasovski. The woman, otherwise a person with health problems, was immediately arrested after reporting planted bombs in some schools by phone. Accordingly, we review and evaluate the post as manipulative, i.e., it lacks context.
