A social media post misinforms the public that the citizens of our country can be vaccinated in neighboring Serbia without an appointment. The post contains a link to an article with a title calling on Macedonians to rush to get vaccinated in neighboring Serbia:

Macedonians rush in! Get vaccinated in Serbia without an appointment.

However, this is not the case.

The title of the text is manipulative. It does not match the context of the article. Contrary to what the title claims, the content of the text does not mention at all that the vaccination refers to North Macedonia.

The article announces that 50 new vaccination stations are being opened in Serbia, where citizens will be able to get vaccinated without making an appointment. A statement was also made by the Secretary of State of the Serbian Ministry of Health, Mirsad Gjerlek, in which he informed about the situation with vaccination in Serbia and called on Serbians to get vaccinated. He points out that so far the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine has been received by 1,435,000 citizens and that 1,017,000 citizens have been revaccinated.

651,000 have been fully immunized. We continue with the rapid immunization. People need to understand that the quick way out of this situation is through fast vaccination.

The problem is not in the vaccines, but in us, the citizens. We will have vaccines from all manufacturers. They will be available for everyone who wants to be vaccinated. Do not wait for the call because the medical personnel will be pleased to give you a vaccine at any moment, because now the speed and number of vaccinations are important if we want to go on vacation during the summer, said Gjerlek.

Thus, nowhere in the text the immunization of foreigners, including Macedonians is mentioned.

However, in spite of this content of the text, a manipulative title has been chosen that does not correspond to the content of the article and that sends the wrong message. This is done intentionally in order to attract as many clicks as possible. That is why, in a sensationalist manner, it is stated: Macedonians rush in! Get vaccinated in Serbia without an appointment.

And that the vaccination is valid only for the citizens of Serbia, confirmed the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabikj, who recently stated that the vaccination of foreign citizens will not continue.

The media reported about the Serbian Prime Minister’s statement saying that they showed solidarity in the most difficult possible times and that 8,000 Pfizer vaccines and 40,000 Sputnik V vaccines were sent to North Macedonia. On this occasion, Brnabikj announced that 106,470 Pfizer and 500,000 Sinopharm vaccines were arriving in Serbia, adding that:

Vaccination of citizens from the region will not continue at the moment, but assistance will be provided in the future.

By the end of last month, thousands of citizens from the region, including Macedonians, were vaccinated in Serbia. According to the director of the e-Government Office, Mihailo Jovanovikj, 39,000 foreigners have been vaccinated in Serbia so far, mostly from BiH, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
