We are fact-checking a post on Facebook (screenshot here) that shares a video of the official arrival ceremony for Russian President Vladimir Putin in Abu Dhabi, claiming that the video was banned in Western democratic countries.

This video is forbidden in the “most democratic” Western countries so the arrival ceremony for Putin cannot be compared to the arrival ceremonies for the Western presidents. Well, let’s see now whether the a*sholes will remove it on the grounds of copyright issues, claims the post.

This is not true. Truthmeter searched Western media articles about Putin’s visit to the United Arab Emirates and it is obvious that the video has been published.

The Russian president, who has been largely isolated since the war in Ukraine, was greeted with fanfare. He is wanted for the abduction of children in Ukraine by the International Criminal Court, to which the UAE is not a signatory, writes ”Telegraph” on Putin’s visit to UAE.

On either side of a stretching drive leading through to the palace was a mounted guard of honour. Half of the rifle-armed men in national dress sat on Arabian horses, the other on camels; all carried either the Russian or the UAE flag, specifies the Telegraph.

As Putin entered the compound of the palace, seven fighter jets flew past in formation for two passes overhead. Behind them trailed the white, blue and red of the Russian flag. The tricolour hung above the Abu Dhabi skyline, as a volley of gunfire announced Putin’s arrival, reported Telegraph, which also posts a video from Putin’s reception.

The video can be found also on the Telegraph’s YouTube channel.

British television channel Sky News also reported about Putin’s visit to UAE and the state arrival ceremony, together with The Telegraph, which also broadcasted the video showing fighter jets leaving trails in the colors of the Russian flag.

The video can also be found on the YouTube channel of France 24.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday landed in the United Arab Emirates for a rare visit outside the former Soviet Union, as Moscow seeks to reassert itself on the global stage. Isolated by the West over the Ukraine war, Putin is courting allies in the Middle East, where he will discuss oil, trade and the Israel-Hamas conflict, according to the video’s description.

The video was also broadcast by CNN.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said relations with the United Arab Emirates were at an all-time high during his first visit to the Middle East since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago, according to the description on YouTube.

From all of the above-noted, we can conclude that the video of the arrival ceremony for Putin in UAE was transmitted by several global media such as Telegraph, Sky News, France 24, CNN, which means that the video was not banned for broadcasting, as claimed by the fact-checked post. Hence, the post is assessed as untrue.
