Contrary to what was stated in the post that the photo was taken on October 12, 2022, it was taken on June 16 of this year and published on Business Wire. The company announced on June 16 of this year that the President of Ukraine, Zelensky, addressed the global technological innovators in a 3D video, produced using Evercoast’s volumetric technology. In the post, this photo is presented in a completely different context than the one in which it was originally captured and published.

We are reviewing a post published on the social network Facebook that says:

12.10.2022. Zelensky seems to be no longer in Kyiv.

Below this description, there is a photo of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he is in a room with a green background that looks like a studio space, surrounded by studio equipment.

Contrary to what was stated in the post that the photo was taken on October 12, 2022, it was actually taken on June 16 of this year and published on Business Wire.

In the post we are reviewing, this photo is presented in a completely different context than the one in which it was originally captured and published. Namely, the company Business Wire announced on June 16 of this year that the president of Ukraine, Zelensky, addressed the global technological innovators in a 3D video, produced with the help of the volumetric technology of the company Evercoast.

Zelensky addressed leading businessmen, investors and corporate owners via a 3D video broadcast for the first time at a forum in London in an effort to gather the most influential innovators in one place to donate financial and technological resources to start rebuilding Ukraine. The video system of the company Evercoast recorded Zelensky’s address in Kyiv in 3D, to offer a new experience, which can be viewed through the QR code available at the following link.

When this code is scanned with a mobile phone, President Zelensky appears on the screen in 3D form and talks about the fact that digital transformation and renewal of the country should happen in Ukraine, for which the 3D video itself is an example. Zelensky is encouraging the world’s most influential innovators to donate financial and technological resources to start rebuilding Ukraine.

Ukraine is the chance for a global digital revolution, a chance for every technology company and a chance for every visionary to show their value, capabilities, technologies and ambitions, Zelensky said then.

This address of his has been presented at four of Europe’s biggest technology festivals, in Stockholm, London, Amsterdam and Paris. His hologram has also been shown live at technology summits in Dublin and Berlin.

The equipment used in the creation of this video was donated to the Ukrainian government. The project was created by Martin Williams from Tailsmith, Thomas Hoeg from Garden Studios, directed by Martin Williams and produced by Mark Wright from Tailsmith. Evercoast is enabling a new era of content and communications in the form of 3D digital people. They enable the recording and broadcasting of high-quality, 3D volumetric videos used in virtual production, for mobile phones and virtual reality.

In the post we are reviewing, this event from June 2022 is presented in a completely wrong context. The post claims that Zelensky is no longer in Kyiv, and as proof of that, a photo is presented where he is in the studio during the creation of the 3D video that was widely broadcast around the world. The falsehood that Zelensky escaped from Ukraine began to spread at the beginning of the war. Then Zelensky debunked these speculations, appearing in a live video together with his fellow politicians from Kyiv and saying: “We are here.”

Despite Zelensky regularly addressing the public from his office in Kyiv, the falsehood that Zelensky has left Ukraine continues to be disseminated, often by channels that promote pro-Russian narratives. However, the photo in the post where Zelensky is in front of a green background is taken out of context to manipulate the public that he has left Kyiv.

Zelensky remained in Kyiv during Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine and on October 10, 2022, posted a video on Telegram from Kyiv, telling Ukrainians to stay in hiding and thanking the military.

Due to all the above facts, we assess that it is not true that Zelensky is no longer in Kyiv, and the video in the post we are reviewing is taken out of context to propagate that untruth.
