Lately Zelenskyy visited several European countries and participated in the G7 Summit in Japan. On his tour he tried to secure greater political and military support for the defense of his country from Russia. However, after the tour, Zelenskyy returned to Ukraine. He – as it can be seen from the official website of the President of Ukraine – immediately went to visit the soldiers in the Donetsk region. Additional evidence is his video address

A post on Facebook (screenshot here) is spreading manipulative claims that the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was trying to leave Ukraine.

The traveling circus fears for his life?!! Imagine this little man does not know where to hide! Maybe he can hind at our idiot’s place – his brother of nonsense!!!…, states the post we are fact-checking.

The post also shares a text with a sticky headline “Breaking News: Following the threats from Moscow, Zelenskyy will not return to Ukraine“.

The text – listing the travels Zelenskyy was on – is spreading the thesis that Zelenskyy was, allegedly, afraid to return to Ukraine after Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles tried to attack Kremlin”.

May became the month of active travel for the President of Ukraine. 3rd May, Volodymyr Zelenskyy embarked upon an European tour starting with the sudden visit of Finland and continuing with visits of other European countries such as The Netherlands, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. At a certain moment, the chase of the Ukrainian leader throughout Europe started to incite specific questions: Is Zelenskyy afraid to return to Kyiv once the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles tried to attack Kremlin?… states the text shared in the post we are fact-checking.

It is true that lately Zelenskyy visited several European countries and attended the G7 Summit in Japan. During his tour, Zelenskyy tried to secure greater political and military support for the defense of his country from Russia.

However, after the tour, Zelenskyy returned to Ukraine. He – as it can be seen form the official website of the President of Ukraine – immediately went to visit the soldiers in the Donetsk region. Additional evidence is his video address and the address in a written format in which he says:

Today I was in the Donetsk region, at our frontline positions near Vuhledar and Maryinka. I had the homour to congratulate our marines on their professional holiday, the Day of the Ukrainian Marines.

The official website of the President of Ukraine specifies that the text was published on 23 May at 10:24 pm. The video was broadcasted the same date and judging by the environment it was taken (as the case with the other previous videos), it seems that is from the Presidential Palace in Kyiv.

Therefore, we can conclude that Zelenskyy is in Ukraine and did not run away from his country. Hence, we assess the post fact-checked as untrue.
